To all my wonderful and valued customers ... Jan. 2019 I am working on the "Call List". Feel free to call and have your name put on the list - lists are for revolvers, Hi Powers and 1911s. I am running a few months behind on HI POWERs, several months behind on 1911s and two years on revolvers. I just turned 62. That means I've been doing this for 45 years! I still enjoy doing what I do, but at some point I may like to do more fishing and less work. At the risk of sounding like a grumpy old man, I insist that you read everything on my website as I have made some changes and added new info. First, frames vary dimensionlly, it may only be by a few thousandths of an inch and may require some fitting!!! Because of this I DO NOT guarantee my grips to fit 100% on every single gun that I make grips for. Second, I DO NOT offer any sort of money back refund if your gun is a little off from the norm. Third, If you have any concerns about this, either call me for an explanation or don't place an order (see what I mean by the grumpy old man comment). The worst case of "these grips don't fit" was when a local customer had a J frame square butt that someone had used as a club and bent the grip frame forward about half an inch and also tore the web of the frame. I straightened and welded it up good as new. The point is that I have no control over what your gun has been through. - Craig Spegel |

I started producing my original "BOOT GRIP" design in December of 1978! Don't be fooled by any of the "looks kinda like a BOOT GRIP" copies. Thank you for taking the time to request information on my custom grips. As a bit of background information on myself, I have been making grips since 1973, first as a hobby and then as a business. As mine is a one-person shop, every pair of grips is made by me personally, from selecting the rough planks to applying the finish. This also means that I sometimes get buried in orders and may run behind in getting your order out. Please be patient as I will not sacrifice quality for quantity. In the rare event that you should have a problem due to an inherent defect, your grip will either be repaired or replaced as quickly as possible. This guarantee only applies to standard, S+ or S++ grade woods. The K, L, N frame round and square butt BOOT GRIP can be made with a 3/8" extension on the bottom. With this, most people can get all three fingers on the front strap, and yet still have a compact grip that is only a little bit longer that the BOOT GRIP. For the K, L, N round butts, I am making a square butt conversion. This will have the 3/8" extension on the bottom, along with the look and feel of a square butt frame. Grips are finished with semi-gloss lacquer for greatest durability. Also, since June, 1993, all grips bear my signature on the inside, as many of you requested this. Since June 1999, my CAS cartouche has been added to the inside of all grips as there are now several BOOT GRIP-type copies of poor design and inferior quality I also offer a repair and refinishing service for my line of grips. So no matter how badly scratched, chipped or even broken - feel free to send then to me for a quote on repair costs. The Cocobolo that I have used in the past is getting very hard to get anymore - as it is on the endangered species list. I still have a good supply of it at this time, but like all things, supply and demand regulates the price of Cocobolo. If you are interested in high grade woods, please call for details as it is scarce, expensive (compared to standard grade wood) and I need to explain the nature of high grade woods and why I cannot guarantee them fully. Again, thank you for your interest. I hope that I can be of service to you in the near future.

BROWNING HI POWER | |
I cut these thin on the top, bottom and front edge, and leave them a little thicker in the middle for a slight palm swell effect.
Please call for current availability and price of presentation and exhibition grade wood.

With or without Swenson ambi safety cutout. The bottom edge of the drips can be had with the standard bevel base or a flat base. The flat base would be for use with an add-on mag well and usually does not have the mainspring housing pin cutout. I do have some high grade woods available, call for prices.

Due to the short grip frame, the BOOT GRIP does come down about 1/2 inch below the frame. I also make an extended model. Please call, as I need to explain the frame problems before I sell you a pair. Prices are 25.00 over the extended "Boot Grip" prices above. |

IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING HIGH GRADE WOOD
All wood expands and contracts with changes in humidity, thats why precision rifles are synthetic stocks and not wood. The absolute most stable wood is straight grain quarter sawn boards. Its also what I call standard grade. Anytime you have flat sawn boards or burly pieces there is the possibility of warping if subjected to extremes in humid conditions. Because of the measures that I take in drying and storing the wood it rarely is a problem. As I cannot control how and where the grips are stored, and the scarcity of high grade wood, I (Craig Spegel) cannot offer either a money back or replacement guarantee. In the rare event that they do warp, I can usually straighten them out and refinish them however. If they cannot be fixed, I will replace them with a standard grade pair less any custom features. Feel free to call me (503-368-5653) if you have any concerns.
CUSTOM FIT OPTION | |
Smith & Wesson revolvers are the best in the world; however, there are sometimes slight differences in the backstrap area, and to get a really good fit I offer the custom fit option. It does not require the gun to be sent back and forth, but does cost a bit more - please call for details.
NOTE ON FRAME THICKNESS
Frame thickness, both upper and lower, as well as the step down area WILL vary. (The average K, L and N frame step is .148). The dimensions I have used since 1973 fit the vast bulk of S&W frames just fine.
